Music lyrics have always had a special place in my life. Growing up I was rewarded for good grades by being able to buy records (yes, people, the big, round, vinyl albums). I remember being happy when I put on my records, from Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam to Michael Jackson's Thriller. They transported me to somewhere other than the basement of my parents house in Lisbon Falls. (Although the support pole in the basement was a wonderful prop when dancing to Tina Turner's "Private Dancer").
I've started a new album, something that is going to be personal, most of which I won't share here, at least not immediately. But some, the fun, happy pages I will. It's an album of the soundtrack of my life and the moments that I associate with the songs. I'd love to hear some of the songs of your life.
One of my favorite and soon to be a page which I will share is "Oceans Apart" by Richard Marx. The summer of 1989, when that song was playing on every station, I was at Samantha Smith World Peace Camp, a mere 2 miles from where I live now. It was a summer of meeting kids my age from all over the world, specifically from Russia. At the end of the summer, we knew we may never see each other again and that song held a special meaning for us.
Here is my opening page of my album. It makes me happy.
Paper is Crate Paper (Seaweed, Kate and Holly collections) and Cosmo Cricket (Doc Holiday). Stamps are Unity Stamps, Punches are from Fiskars. Paper flowers and buttons are CTMH.
And then on another topic: I LOVE this stamp set from Unity. Love it! I know Halloween is still a little further away but I couldn't resist playing with it.
Paper and ink are CTMH, Stamps are Unity, Fiskars punch and ribbon is from the dollar bin at Target.
